• Are you a content-area certified high school teacher, working within the Phoenix Union High School District?
  • Are you interested in getting an ESL endorsement in three consecutive semesters?
  • Are you seeking an opportunity to complete your ESL endorsement, if you have already earned some credits?
  • Are you committed to working with English language learners?

Then, the ACCESS ESL endorsement program can be an option for you!

Obtain your ESL endorsement by taking graduate classes at a PUHSD facility, taught by faculty from the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education, at Arizona State University.

What is the ACCESS Program?

The ACCESS Program provides scholarships (equivalent to Arizona in-state tuition) to support accepted ACCESS participants in the completion of graduate courses leading to an ESL endorsement. Funding is provided from a grant by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA), in coordination with the Office of the Vice President for Education Partnerships at ASU, and the ASU Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education.

Accepted participants will be part of a PUSHD cohort of content area teachers, taking six graduate-level courses in fulfillment of the Arizona Department of Education's requirements for an ESL endorsement. The ACCESS grant covers Arizona in-state tuition costs, and participants incur partial expenses related to the program, such as ASU fees, books and materials. Financial assistance is available only for three consecutive semesters, completing 2 courses in each semester: Fall, Spring and Summer.
